Blood Red Moon
Jeff Dale & The South Woodlawners
Mixing a lifetime of blues with elements of jazz, West African rhythms and solid R&B, along with his well-known sense of humor, Dale delivers an album filled with both menace and fun. “Blood Red Moon” was recorded with The Dirty Jacks, a young rhythm section that Jeff borrowed, as well as some of his long time South Woodlawners. Adding principal cellist from the L.A. Opera, Dane Little, to a couple of the tracks, Jeff Dale continues an outside the box approach to producing his blues.
Dale's lifelong career in music has had him not only playing with his blues heroes, but also encountering extraordinary musicians, producers and engineers outside of the blues world. Among these is Jeff Glixman, best known for his production on all the hit albums by the band Kansas in the 1970s (“Carry On Wayward Son,” “Dust In The Wind,” etc.), as well as other multi-platinum selling work from bands like the Georgia Satellites. Glixman and Dale have been friends for many years, and after hearing Dale's recent recording, Glixman insisted that he mix the album at his New Orleans studio. Adding another layer of exceptional talent to the album, David Donnelly, a Grammy® winning engineer for his work with Alan Parsons, mastered the record.
